Summer may have just started, but that doesn’t mean you can’t think ahead when it comes to school. James Madison High School offers individual classes so you can continue your studies throughout the summer, helping you get a jump start on your fall classes so you can get ahead of the game. Keep reading to learn more.

How can I get ahead on my studies?

Just because local high schools are out for the summer doesn’t mean that studying for credit has to stop. James Madison High School offers individual courses in addition to full-time high school programs so you can continue with your studies even while on summer break.

Having the option to take classes during the summer months can help you keep up with, or advance your studies. If you’ve failed, missed, or didn't complete a class, you can take this opportunity to catch up. Or, if you have your sights set on an early graduation, you can take on classes now, putting you ahead with completed credits. Because JMHS is a completely self-paced online school, you can enroll at any time. There are no start, end, or due dates, making it possible to pick up classes any time you’d like, finishing them at whatever pace works best for your schedule.

What classes can I take at JMHS?

JMHS offers specific individual courses that are part of a traditional public school curriculum. Every high school student will be required to take these classes at some point in time, so you can be assured you’ll find something you’ll need for your transcripts. The core subject areas include:

  • Math. Get a jump on math subjects like Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-calculus.
  • Social Studies. Brush up on your American History, American Government and Economics, and World History.
  • Science. Complete your science requirements with courses in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Physics.
  • English. English classes at levels I through IV are offered in addition to classes in Public Speaking which could complete elective course requirements.
  • Foreign Language. Complete your foreign language requirements with Spanish classes in levels I through III from JMHS.

In addition to standard level courses, college prep classes are available in World History, American History, American History & Economics, Biology, and English. These more advanced courses can help you further your academic study if you’re looking for more of a challenge or additional coursework to highlight on your college applications.
